So here is the final magic. The payoff that ties together technical change, progressive development, and the mental game in match play serving. This is the process of using your mental imagery, what I call swing keys, or swing pictures. A swing picture is an image (and the associated feeling or feelings) that triggers the execution of the stroke motion and also the placement and spin. Elite players follow these images automatically and subconsciously.

This article explains how to develop that process and use it ritualistically for yourself. It demonstrates the most effective images I have developed working with players at all levels. But this is a creative process that allows you to experiment and create the right images for you. These images are not just technical, simultaneously they are the source of positive emotional energy. So the process synthesizes the technical and mental game and allows you to play with more success, satisfaction, and yes, joy, than you may have believed possible.
