Very informative article Sean! Always wondered about instructors who felt compelled to comment on most every ball hit in a drill. The comment by the instructor was usually a correction on the stroke if the ball landing had poor placement or lacked speed/spin. Or praise, if everything seemed acceptable. Then one day the iinstructor had laryngitis, couldnt talk, and the student lost all confidence because there was no constant, external feedback. Galway turned that method upside down with focus on internal feedback( self awareness). But.....I guess verbal, external feedback as the sole form of teaching is still the predominant style today because it takes much less effort and training. JY, looks like your name might someday be listed as " pioneer" in the development of an internal feedback method of teaching tennis, bolstered by, now affordable consumer access to slow motion video.
