  • Fiasco in Naples

Behind the scenes at the ATP 250 in Naples, the unofficial account.

Thursday - Courts deemed unplayable due to heavy rain
    Friday - Courts start PEELING
Saturday, Sunday - qualies moved, court repair
    Monday - Play delayed
Tues, Wednesday - Play CANCELLED in Napoli, courts too slippery at night.

Four R1 matches still to finish, R2 was supposed to "finish" tomorrow.

Thursday - No water at official hotel. Moutet retried, apparently in protest

P.S. Tournament refused to give WC to retiring Andres Seppi

    All sounds incredibly bizarre.

And why the refused wild card? Is it because he is from the North?

I did see Fabio go out 1 and 1 to PCB. The announcers said Fabio was not happy about the scheduling at all ha. Big surprise. PCB just clocked in and went to work.

          Interesting speculation.

I think the justification was development, but the player that got the slot went out tamely in his first match. Don't recall his name.

Funny place Italy. I know because my wife is Italian and we go there a lot. She's from the North of Italy and has little good to say about any of the goings on south of Rome. And don't get her started on the mafia...

I recall staying in Milan many years ago when I spoke at a conference. We were a block from the headquarters of a separatist party that wanted Northern Italy to separate from Southern Italy.

Back to actual tennis, Lorenzo Musetti just beat Matteo Berrettini for the title in Naples !
Good win for the 20 yr particularly since it is on hard courts.
Lorenzo Musetti capped a perfect week at the Tennis Napoli Cup on Sunday with victory against Matteo Berrettini in the championship match in Naples.

Haven't gotten to watch any of that yet, but I'm excited to see him break through Musetti has an exciting and fun game.

Besides, we one-handers have to stick together <g>

                7-6(5), 6-2

Haha yes! I always make time to watch the one handers. Some pretty good examples at the moment.
