I'm not arguing the WTA world number one will match Fed's career. Nor that her strokes resemble Fed's (She's no female Grigor Dimitrov).
But tactically, she plays more like Peak Fed (2004-2007/8) than anyone I can think of, at least on this boring Sunday with no NFL.or tennis.
Spot serves, slice backhand to get space, serve + one, higher wining percentage behind 1st serve than much bigger servers. {Remember, Peak Fed was a whirling dervish of Serve Plus One greatness. Early Fed, S&V. Later Fed, power baseline. Fed 2.0 re-discovered his backhand DTL ! It's like Picasso's periods -cubism, blue, surrealism ... ! ).
Thoughts?
Look at this hit point graphic from AO22. I believe this is ESPN. Red is a forehand. Every dot is --
First Shot After Serve, Barty AO.
She's even got one forehand from her backhand doubles alley. That takes footwork. I don't recall what segment of play this was for. Could have been 2nd set of final only for all I can recall.
