Absolutely not a fan of either Alexander Zverev, Andy Murray or Mary Carillo for that matter. Not a fan of the author of this scurrilous article either.

"Olga, who now has a corporate job, has not sought financial damages and says she will not file charges. In an Instagram message she posted and then deleted, she said she wasn’t afraid of Sascha or his legal team and asserted, “I said the truth and you’re going to court to try to win it with a lie?”"

If Zverev has committed a crime it is the responsibility of the victim to pursue justice through the system. Not that the system ever produces real justice. But unfortunately, this is what we are stuck with. There are a couple of possibilities here...Zverev is telling the truth or Olga is telling the truth. Another possibility is that neither of them are telling the whole truth and this is what I suspect to be the truth. Zverev has shown fits of rage on the tennis court that are really a bad look...particularly when a "story" like this comes out. I wonder if this Olga person has any tendencies of being dramatic or less than truthful.

There is no way of telling what is going on here and therefore it is a matter between the combatants. Didn't anyone every tell you...that the "Battle of the Sexes" will never be won. There is simply too much fraternisation between the enemies. Though I am not a fan of Andy Murray, it seems he was pretty diplomatic about it. More or less he told the sleaze ball reporter to "go fish". He is a tennis player...not the judge, jury and executioner. Which is what this reporter was fishing for more or less. He is looking for a story...a scoop. He doesn't necessarily care about Olga's well-being...he is out trying to create a sensation.

"Courageous, widely celebrated" Mary Carillo, stated as absolute fact. Oh brother.

ATP and WTA need abuse policies. Again, every major sport has to deal with this and does. One can argue that they all need to improve, there needs to be due process, and response needs to be proportionate. But doing zero is unacceptable.

Also, asking every single tournament to have its own review of every allegation is also unreasonable. It's the ATP's job to supervise ATP members not the Tour Director of Umag, and Delray, and San Diego, and on and on.

As for Mary Carillo, I have mixed feelings, and generally like her stances. But she didn't act when the accusations against a colleague -- Justin Gimelstob -- were more severe than in this case (his wife was among perhaps 6 people accusing Gimelstob of assault or threats of violent assault). And Carillo still didn't act even when Gimelstob was arrested and convicted of committing a violent, felony assault of a man on the street, in front of his young child and pregnant wife, and then threatening a witness.

So ... too little, too late?

I do not have mixed feelings regarding Mary, not that it matters.
