  • teaching little kids to hit flat or topspin not slice

I'm having a hard time with my 4 year old son and a 5 year old student of mine putting extreme slice on the ball rather than making solid contact or topspin. They are both transitioning from 2handed forehands to 1 handers. I have seen the same problem with kids who play a lot of baseball. If you have a trick to fix this, please lemme know! Thanks Harry Kingsley

Personally I'm not a two-handed fh guy with little kids.

I like sponge balls and small rackets for those guys and find they can hit great forehands. I would try limiting the swings and starting in a nice turn with the racket back and down and elbow in. Have them hit half court--hopefully with the junior equip--and half speed.
