Backhand Volley: Tour Portrait

This months Tour Portrait completes the set with last month's on forehand volleys. I tried to give you a variety of players, shots and techniques -- from Karlovic to a swinging backhand volley by Novak, to a two-hander.

But I'm particularly proud of capturing Milos Raonic with tongue out and hair peaked Enjoy! / jim

The image of Djokovic bears explaining. It comes from a match between Fed and Novak at Indian Wells in 2017. It is the only time I've seen a player hit full, swinging forehand- and backhand-volleys back-to-back -- and lose the point. Fed not only got the backhand back, but passed him. Novak won the match, tho. These two photos were taken two seconds apart.
