The fans accepted the New Miami Open pretty well. Here are some numbers courtesy of Miami Open.

-17,373 Fans in attendance to see Roger Federer win in finals. A Miami Open Men's Final Attendance record. Previous was 14,625 in 2011.
-Total attendance for duration of event was 388,734. Highest ever for the tournament in history. Previous record was 326,131 in 2012.
-Tournament set 15 session attendance records over the last two weeks.
-Session 9 attendance of 32,831 set an all time session attendance record. Previous was in 2007 with 18,910.

I'd say the first year was a success. It will only get better as owners IMG and Billionaire Stephen Ross want to be competitive with Indian Wells. Plans for upgrades and fan experiences are already in the works for next year.
