Saw Kyrgios winning this morning on the ATP app. The guy is certainly a bit bananas, very absent minded during the coin toss, not looking at anyone, but endlessly tapping the net with his racket but can play brilliantly. Won his match in two against Nishikori. I like that he steps up to the line and serves his bombs immediately without endless bouncing of the ball like Djokovic and Nadal. Sometimes he even does not bounce the ball.

You can't beat these two for getting on with the job when serving. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf4wrrpzdYcStotty

Kyrgios' game is good for tennis. His attitude is not.
Perhaps this is the deal he made with the devil. Supreme tennis skills and athleticism but a mercurial temper, immaturity and carelessness. Every top player on tour, Big 4 included know just how good and dangerous he can be. They are thankful his bad side shows up often.

Yes he's good. But the US Open, to me, proved he really doesn't have the stomach for it. He's caused some upsets and had great wins in the past when he was a considerable underdog against the Big 4. At the US Open he had the chance to step up to the plate when it really counted, but he didn't. He needed to beat Roger and progress deep into the draw and finally prove himself. That was a moment in his career. He went down so tamely to Roger who, in all honesty, just popped the ball over the net and then watched Kyrgios self-destruct under the weight of expectation.
The weakness of arrogance is it stops a player from grovelling and suffering because they don't want others to see them having to do that. Unfortunately to be truly great you have to do plenty of that. Roger, even though he's supremely gifted, will certainly suffer if he has to if it means lifting a slam.Stotty
