  • True Alignment on the forehand

Found Mitchell's article very interesting and would like to feel the proper way of achieving the open stance jumping fh. Looking at the first video ( Nadal, etc, jumping on the fh), I wonder if anyone could share what are the proper cues to teach this? From the loaded position, do I concentrate on my left leg ( for right hander) moving to the front and close to body? I realize that not to step through while you are hitting is a good cue. What else? Thank you

Hi Culatra. You have to concentrate on scissoring the legs. The initial push up into the air comes from the load leg (right for the right hander). As the swing starts it pushes you up into the air. Pressing forward with the left leg and backwards with the right leg. This scissor action will help drive the arm forward faster. I hop this helps. Kerry.
