  • Differences in Men's and Women's Serving

Let's get your thoughts on Bruce Elliot and Machar Reid's article, "Differences in Men's and Women's Serving"

Great article! It has been an extremely long journey to understanding this concept and it was nice to see it written in such a clear fashion. My son who is 17 now has a really nice serve and I was lucky to stumble on this by having him just loosen his grip. My daughter who is now eleven and a half has been focusing on other parts of the serve. Mostly rhythm and trying to make sure she doesn't fall too much into the waiter tray.

My thought about using internal rotation was to have her practice it maybe with an American football. If she can get it to spiral than that would be a good way to learn it.

Right now a teaching pro has been telling her to snap her wrist which I think is the wrong thing to say.

Any other thoughts on how to teach her this outside of the serve before puberty.

    Thanks,

    Arturo

I also saw some old YouTube videos of Agassi, who also was not getting a good rotation, with his racket facing down not to the side.
