  • Spin Data in NY Times and Herald Tribune

    Thought you guys might be interested in reading an article that international tennis writer Chris Clarey did on the modern forehand for the International Herald Tribune and the NY Times, based in part on an interview he and I did last week.

    It's pretty much completely accurate!

    Watch thousands of forehands being hit by top players over the years and you will come to realize that most of those strokes are no longer finishing the same way.

      I read the article in the Times and was pleased you've 'Made it' - As a brief point of interest - I've often shown my students Tilden's forehand to demonstrate things really haven't changed much except for the grip. Also, had to remember when Tilden played, one couldn't leave the ground when serving.
      Any way, you're a fantastic asset to the teaching community and tennis in general. My hats off to you.
