This approach of a TEAM USA seems to be working well already. There is a cohesion and chemistry now amongst oust coaches, staff and independent professionals that is much stronger than before, even as recently as last year. With the facility in Lake Nona having broken ground and the main administrative building completed, the buzz wishing the organization and throughout the industry is exciting. The player development direction of usta is just a small piece of the puzzle as to what impact this has for the industry as a whole. Everyone is excited about the potential and possibilities.
The pathway to the top, its a steep one. Often traveled, but few reach the destination they had hoped for. Interesting to hear Paul use the time frame. For a while they used strictly age metrics to determine your promise. Must be top 600 by 18. Top 200 by 21. So on and so forth. Some tennis federations may still use this.
