Sadly…I have been "right" all along
Originally posted by licensedcoach View PostSadly, TennisTV doesn't cover the current tournaments being played. I have been a little starved of tennis of late and am looking forward to the Aussie Open and the 1000 events coming up.
I am getting a little desperate for a new player to burst on the scene. The game needs it, I need, the forum needs it. Someone has to be coming up any time now. It's been ten years since someone outstanding turned up...
The game has been gradually dumbed down much like the rest of society. People no longer know any better and therefore have no ability to discern. There is nothing to compare it to. Conveniently the old video makes the game look slow and non-athletic compared to what we have now. Nothing could be further from the truth.
It was always a thinking mans game but no longer can this be said. It's strictly a baseline game. You aren't missing anything when you cannot watch. It's better to be a coach than a "fan". A spectator. If you are a spectator you are wasting your time on a very dull and uninteresting contest. Take the Djokovic vs. Nadal final in Qatar…it was a baseline fest. Nadal went to the net in sheer frustration and tried to punch himself in the head as a result of his frustration. It's stupid…but there isn't anyone that is saying so. Which leads me to believe there is some kind of unbelievable conspiracy going on…or maybe people are really that stupid. Like Donald says.
There was a huge equipment manufacturers conference in the U. K. last year and they were searching for the next big name coming down the pipe. Guess what they came up with…nothing.
I love the game for what it meant to me. I love the last and greatest rivalry of them all…John McEnroe versus Bjorn Borg. They may not have been the greatest players of all time. But they were the last.
It's better to be a coach teaching normal and average people how to exercise and how to have a good time. It is a way of celebrating what once was. The rewards of watching people playing after work or after school where they are being tortured on a daily basis makes me feel as if I am contributing something positive to the universe in terms of positive energy. But as far as the pro game has gone it has been corrupted beyond all recognition. Sadly…for once…and I rarely if ever say it…I was right.don_budge
