This happened outside the hotel where I stayed at last year. Just an awful, embarrassing and uncalled use of unnecessary force. many lawyers reaching out to Blake right now in hopes of taking NYPD to task

Tackled for fraud? not a murder suspect, but for fraud. Seems excessive to me. I thought the way it worked, cops comes up, ask for id, then make arrest if you make a run for it. In addition plenty of backup. Embarrassing for NYPD. 99% of cops in this country do an impeccable and go above and beyond the call of duty, I've been lucky enough to be on receiving end of their generosity and professionalism. But these a-holes, not cool. He had his US Open credentials in his back pocket. A simple frisk would have given them proof that he clearly was not a thug or whoever the hell they thought he was.
Hope the NYPD takes swift and severe action on these goons that they call law enforcement professionals.
And another note...a simple sincere apology would have saved alot of headache and bad PR. Shameful.

The Authorities...
"I am determined to use my voice to turn this unfortunate incident into a catalyst for change in the relationship between the police and the public they serve," he said in a statement on Friday.
There needs to be some sanity restored in the relationship between the common man and the authorities. My feelings are…it isn't going to happen. We are more likely to feel that boot crushing the human skull. The problems today are too big to have any viable solutions.
It was ironic that this incident occurs so close to September 11th.

Nauseating…this "officer" ought to run a gauntlet comprised of all who he has offended. A gauntlet of tennis racquets might suffice. James Blake gets to personally tag this loser with fifteen forehands and fifteen backhands in locations of his choice. If Blake should pass on this he is allowed to appoint a stand-in.Comment
