I just love this clip. Like you, I love the ground level view. It's more realistic and you get a better idea of pace and spin. Laver is playing so well for his age...around 37?

The rear low view would double tennis viewer ship. You can feel the maginficence of the players.

In comparision the top view is like watching two ants hit a tic tac (in the words of Steve Bellamy.)

Yes, many of the tournaments shown today on TV make the TV viewer feel as though the viewer is sitting in the top row of the stadium rather than close to the court. The TV tennis companies must think it is very important to get the name of the city (that is behind every court on the circuit now) into the TV view, & to show the crowd & stadium advertising banners as well as the action on the court. When the camera is far away from the court, the match really is not worth watching.

I doubt that TV viewership is high for most of these tournaments, but TV executives must think that a far away cam is better for advertising. The position in which most modern tournaments place their TV cams must damage the appeal of today's WTA & ATP circuits. Too bad.
