      Must be some spiral spin in the Cross study somewhere. Yes there is. But for what is spiral spin good other than making the ball bounce low (almost not at all) and sideways? That's something I'd like to know, but I guess I'm always looking for simple answers, such as, from an initial perusing of these Cross materials, "If you want to bounce a serve up to opponent's shoulders or higher, try using lots of topspin to bring the ball down from very high and also in such a way that it bounces well short of the service line."

      Because you want a bigger angle of incidence. And I do want to get higher up on the opponent. Sort of like a cushion shot in pocket pool. Hadn't thought of that! We're sleepwalkers all.

        Been speaking with Bruce and others regarding this article and we plan to "translate" it into Tennisplayer language. Stay tuned.
