Mary Jo Fernandez: "In a couple of hours, we'll potentially have a champion."
Who could disagree? What a point Mary Jo has! Both players could die on the court, struck by lightning coming down through the roof.
But if the lightning only kills one of the players, the other will actually be champion, no?
I know, so little of me to pick on the poor, highly paid Mary Jo.
Her use of the word "potentially" reminds me of the police blotters that Tom Wolfe used to talk about. Cops love big words and the more extra the better.
