Murray is a departure for followers of British tennis. For the last 10 years or so we have had Henman, and to a lesser extent Rusedski, whose game has a certain fragility. At his best Henman does brilliant things on a tennis court, and he must have amazing hand-eye coordination. But watching him play is like watching guerilla warfare. He has to ambush his opponent. Against better players he has to ambush them on practically every point. Sometimes he does this brilliantly and wins big tournaments. But he has no bully shot, like a Sampras, and no bully game in the way that someone like Hewitt does. Murray is so totally different. He may not be good enough yet/ever, but his game is obdurate in the way that Hewitt's is, and you can see that Murray loves the competition. What a relief.
