    Where is your team

You still don't show up under the "tennisplayers" group.
To compete in the group you'll need the group's name: Tennisplayers and the password which is 6WYXS.

Kyle was the leader for round 3 with 511 compared to my 474. Where were you? You have to actually join the group to show up in the standings.

I think we have to include women's matches after the 4th round. It's getting too hard to find enough players to buy for the budget. Need the underdogs on th women's side as well. Otherwise too big a disadvantage against all the other players in the full game.

I'm still here. Sorry for my forum AWOL.

I've been learning, listening, teaching and testing at the USPTA Florida Convention this past week at PGA National in Palm Beach. Great times, but It interfered with my tennis watching and analysis.

That being said, I still managed to find some time to scrape together a team. These matches are getting tougher and tougher and at this point, you just have to go with the upsets to make up any sort of ground. Still very fun.

Thanks to Don for informing me about this. Still looking to pull out a victory. That Robredo -Almagro match helped me as I had Robredo.

We'll see what happens in the quarters...

The fourth round was good for me. I'm swimming in points...850. But now I have to choose women as well. Anyone know anything about women's game and the likely winners in the QF's? I hardly ever watch the women's game.

tennis_chiro, Klacr...help me out here...ant likely upsets you can think of in the women's draw?

          Fourth Round Round-up

Federer's two set walkabout cost me all the bonus points, but I had Federer, Ferrer, Robredo, Haas and Wawrinka for 970 points. Kyle also had Federer, Wawrinka and Robredo for 700 points. Who did you have, Stotty?
How in the world do the leader's end up with 1500 points!? I'm on the 59th page of the leader board (out of 1966 pages), ranked 580. That's in the top 3%, but a long way from the top. However, we haven't used any women's matches up to this point and I think we would look better compared to other gamers who just picked men's matches. The overall leader after the 4th round also hand Wawrinka, Robredo, Federer and Haas, but instead of Ferrer he had Errani and Kuznetsova and Kuznetsova was his double plus he got good bonus points from her.

Tough to figure how to play the longshots on the women's side for the quarters. I think Kirilenko is a possible against Azarenka, but Williams and Sharapova are looking too good, even for Kuzie and JJ. I went with Robredo and Wawrinka for possible return if they win instead of one bet on Nadal or Ferrer. I think Nadal is vulnerable and Wawrinka may be able to make a breakthrough. Robredo beat Ferrer twice on clay. It's 270 points if Wawrinka wins and 230 for Robredo vs just 120 for Rafa or 130 for Ferrer. I went for two bites at the apple; just hope it isn't rotten! I didn't have any more extra points so I just had the 425 to spend. If I had another 50 points, I might have gone with one of the underdog women like Kirilenko by freeing up some points by taking Tsonga instead of Sharapova. If form holds, my points will drop.

If you aren't confused now, Stotty, it's not my fault!

            Tsonga looks really good!

Just watched a bit of Tsonga/Chardy on the americaonesports.com site from TennisChannel and I was really impressed with how within himself he is playing. Then I checked his stats: way more winners than unforced errors all the way through; only 2 doubles in 4 matches; very few break points against. Rasheed may be beginning to have an effect. He is making far less unforced errors and we know he has enough power. After Fed's walkabout against Simon, I've switched my bet for this match from Sharapova (worth just 120 points if she wins) to Tsonga (worth 190 if he wins) plus I get the added bonus of being able to add a sixth player, Sharapova's opponent, Jankovic who would be worth a phenomenal 270 pts if she were to win. Sure, she's lost 7 out of 8 against Masha, but they both came out of Bolletierri's at the same time and I would bet a win would mean an awful lot to Jankovic and she's playing very well. So I have a chance for 460 points with two underdogs, one just slight, instead of a chance for just 120 with heavy favorite Sharapova. The way Tsonga and Jankovic are playing, it's a good bet.

But most of all, I think there is a big difference in the way Tsonga is moving and how consistently he is playing. He nearly and really should have beaten Djokovic here last year. He has played at a very high level for 4 rounds and this may be his chance to step through to a final again.

I backed Radwanska and Kuznetsova today. For a moment or two I thought I would be swimming in points. I backed Tsonga and he came up trumps. I need Nadal not to drop a set and to win inside two hours against Wawrinka to boost my points up. I decided against backing Djokovic as my number one player because Haas could be a bit sticky. Nadal versus Wawrinka seems more predictable.

How are you playing it in the latter stages, tennis_chiro, Klacr?

Good fun this game. It's taken nine days but I've finally got the hang of it. I was never the brightest kid on the block with these things.

                Stotty,
if you go ahead and join the group, you can actually see the picks of the other members. So far, it's just me and Kyle listed as members of the group.

To compete in the group you'll need the group's name: Tennisplayers and the password which is 6WYXS. The group number is 1015.

                The url is http://www.myrolandgarroscup.com/

Hit the group drop down menu and then join the private group.

Actually just sent you another invite.

But as for my picks, I'm a little upset with myself for taking a flyer on Robredo with my remaining points. I freed up a few by taking Wawrinka against Nadal. Longshot, but it enabled me to choose another player and the potential 270 points vs 120 for Nadal swayed me. But I should have realized Robredo could not have enough left in the tank after 3 come from behind wins in 5. I should have used Ferrer and realized he would blow out Robredo. But even if I didn't realize that, I could have used the 80 points I spent on Robredo and Jankovic with the 7 points I had left over to take Errani, whom I really like for her fight. Not that I liked her better than Radwanska (who's strategic play I love), but I could have taken her instead of Robredo and Jankovic; but I didn't have enough in the bank to take Radwanska. I'll be singing a different tune if Jankovic wins tomorrow!

I placed my big bet on Djokovic. He came out today with basically the statement I said he would: that he was dedicating this tournament to his old coach, Jelena Jencic. She must have really been something: Seles and Djokovic both. He was going to be very tough to beat anyway, but with extra inspiration, ... ouch!

Unless Wawrinka knocks off both Nadal and Djokovic, Joker completes the career slam against Ferrer. I just can't see Haas pulling off upsetting Djokovic on this stage and surface over 5 sets. It's about shot tolerance. Federer didn't show up today, but it was going to be tough for him if he had because, for the first time, Tsonga was beginning to look like he had more shot tolerance than Roger. But he doesn't have more than Ferrer and he will probably win a couple of sets, but late in the match the sting will come off the shots a little and David will still be running. Djokovic has enough shot tolerance for Nadal and as much as he needs plus more firepower than Ferrer.

We'll see soon enough. Dying to see tomorrow's matches. (today's over there)

I got clobbered in that last round. 3 of my players got me absolutely zero points. Hope to do better in the quarters but I already took a big swing and miss with that Federer/Tsonga match. Now I've resorted to picking the women.
I'm totally lost on these prognostications.
Sharapova just got bageled by Jankovic in the first set. Didn't see that coming.

I still have a few tricks up my sleeve and I need to use them if I want to catch up to Don.

Nadal is a set and 5-3 up and I cannot see him dropping a set to Wawrinka. I need him to win a little more slowly. At this rate he'll be finished in an hour and 45 minutes. I have it for 1:58.

Djokovic is looking comfy at the moment at 2 sets to love up.

I should have a good supply of point by tonight.

I was a little conflicted watching Djoker close out Wawrinka. I was pulling for Wawrinka, but I needed Djoker to finish up and win in straights and he did.

I'm sticking with Djokovic to win it. But I really want to try to watch that match with Nadal. It should be a barnburner. I think Ferrer's superior shot tolerance will tell the tale against Tsonga. But it will be 4 or 5 sets and at least in doubt most of the way. Tsonga is playing the best tennis of his career. Conditions could play a factor there. Slow and heavy will favor Ferrer.

As for the women, I think Serena has their number, but it sure is fun to see little Errani giving the big babes fits.

Actually, I meant Djokovic took out Haas. That was where I had the big bet and I got lucky on the time and games. Wawrinka - I was hoping he would give Rafa a better battle and I was out of chips so I couldn't bet on Rafa anyway.

Yeah, let's hope they have a game like this for Wimbledon. But someone needs to show me how to load a spreadsheet into a post.

We all have done relatively well. I wonder what the correlation would be with real betting. How would we be doing with Ladbroke's, Stotty?

At Ladbrokes we would be leaving their doors richer than when we went in...that's for sure. Perhaps we ought to starting betting as a profitable sideline.

A great day for me. Both girls came up trumps. Sharapova gave me a slight scare...but rain saved the day...and she returned to emerge the winner. Serena's match was a predictable rout.

I have Tsonga and Djokovic to win tomorrow.
