Tough to do against guys half your age, not carrying 50lbs of extra belly fat! Hot out there. Have one more match today to win, but the body may be too beat up. That should be illegal to make players play three matches in one day.

I started out ok, taking a 4-3 lead into the first set. Then my dog started barking from the car. Got distracted, and it was also hot. Small opponent was extremely fast, faster than anyone I've ever played, and took the set 6-4. Went down love 5, and broke him at love for 1-5, but was out of gas and lost my last serve game at love. Could not recover from the brutal three match day before in Cal. valley heat. Put me off just enough to miss too many attacking shots. Tried to adjust for greater net clearance, but then he was able to just run the crap out of me, if I did not attack the net, but I missed too many approaches trying to do too much due to his speed. My reactions were gone. Too slow afoot as well. Leg was hurt, ankle, and shoulder from overuse the day before.

At least I beat the #1 and #4 seeds!

The site is helping me improve. No way I'd be able to beat guys less than half my age, and 50-60 lbs. lighter without it! I totally changed my fh to adopt the type III atp shot, after that piece, and even though it's only been a small time, I am winning 4.5 matches, for such a huge change, and my serve is also improving. I believe that nadal has to improve his serve also. He needs to tuck his toss arm, and leading shoulder, way faster to achieve greater extension upwards, faster, and a farther resulting forwards contact point off his toss, to add more kinetic path way and mph.

Geoff, Nadal needs more swerve and bend on his serve. It's the one part of his game he could still improve on. It would be most helpful against Djokovic and at Wimbledon.

From your standpoint, it might be an idea to lose 50-60lbs. No technical changes are required for this, just sheer will power. Just think how much fitter and faster you would be.

...and start dreaming! It's for free you know.

                  "Dreaming"- Blondie

When I met you in the restaurant
You could tell I was no debutante
You asked me what's my pleasure
                  A movie or a measure?
I'll have a cup of tea and tell you of my dreaming
                  Dreaming is free

I don't want to live on charity
Pleasure's real or is it fantasy?
Reel to reel is living rarity
People stop and stare at me
We just walk on by -
                  we just keep on dreaming

Feet feet, walking a two mile
Meet meet, meet me at the turnstile
I never met him, I'll never forget him

Dream dream, even for a little while
Dream dream, filling up an idle hour
                  Fade away, radiate

I sit by and watch the river flow
I sit by and watch the traffic go
Imagine something of your very own
Something you can have and hold

I'd build a road in gold just to have some dreaming
                  Dreaming is free
                  Dreaming
                  Dreaming is free
                  Dreaming
                  Dreaming is free

Huge congrats on your personal victories over the weekend. How's it feeling? It's all about recovery time as we get older...n'est pa?

Geoff is a fit of modesty has not disclosed another fact:

He is currently ranked #95 nationally in the men's 55s!

                    Congrats.

95 with a bullet, after I learn the atp type III! Video clips are also helping me with my serve. It just goes to show that anyone, no matter how fat or old you are, can improve using this site to wander. I've never before been able to regularly hit winners off those shots.

Yesterday I started to use the lag technique, that Karlovic uses, by angling his racquet hand backwards, and up, and I noticed that Sampras does the same thing, in his motion, just not as much, after looking at his serve clips yesterday. The result was startling.

Playing in another tournament this week. Several guys in it are in the top 100 in the U.S. I am seeded #4. Then after that is a category II tournament at the Berkeley Tennis Club. I've been drilling serve and returns and locking in my string tension/methods/hybrids for serve volley and for return attacking.

Won my first round 0 and 3. Now I get revenge on a guy who beat me in a final 7-6 6-4 earlier in the year. He responded with high looping bhs, when I hit him high balls, which I will take out of the air if he does it again. Passed dtl off bh side mainly. Had a weak serve, only to my fh, which I broke many times, but could'nt hold enough. Serve and fh are stronger now, so I will crush him tomorrow!

PUlled my hamstring when I had a 4-0 lead in the second set. Got into a tie breaker, but could not move. Found the same things, but this guy just hit better shots than I did generally. If I play him again, it's nothing but high balls to his bh, and mix up serving fh/bh. Just another tennis injury. Now my next tournament is threatened at the btc.
