  • Federer Portrait 1

It's not on the list of threads asking for comments, but did anyone else think that DaCunha portrait of Roger was amazing? Look at his feet in the first three images! From that position I am pretty sure I could break an ankle.

People talk about his balance and footwork--but I've never seen him caught quite at that moment.

A picture and a couple of words...

Mark DaCunha's portrait of Roger Federer. He could not of picked a better outfit to shoot...traditional whites with some tasteful trim. Good hair day...they all are when you are Roger Federer. Poetry in motion caught in still photos...one can only imagine what it takes to always appear so elegant and balanced even when airborne.

A word or two or three about each wonderful captured moment. One can really imagine what it must be like to be Roger Federer...to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. Tennis' answer to you know who minus the trash talk.

      02. Cat Stalking the prey
03 Getting into position with the greatest of ease
      04. Float like a butterfly
      05. Reach for the sky
      06. Under the lights
      07. Airborne plus full extension
      08. He's going back...way back
      09. Scissors while turning out the wrist
      10. Dead nuts
      11. Ole!
      12. Early preparation on the run
      13. Backhand...a perfect fit
      14. Sting like a bee
      15. Hands together...racquet butt in heel of the hand
      16. Mush ball
      17. It's in the hips first...shoulders twirling around the head
      18. Maxed out
      19. One with the universe
      20. Pause and reflect
      21. Signed...Roger Federer
      22. A trifle warm in here?
      23. Satisfaction
      24. "He was really good..."
      25. "But I was just a little better...today."
      26. Food for thought

It's great to see other people appreciate these portraits! I shoot a lot of video (obviously) but still really like the focused simplicity of a single image. I think this section of the site is one of more unique resources we have.
