  • Should Isner serve and volley? Oh my God

  • #2
It's a good article. It's something I've been asking for a very long time of John Isner. He has improved his volleys over the past few seasons. Yes, he has the big bomb of a serve at 140mph but that's not the most effective serve for him. It would certainly limit his ability to get closer to the net for the first volley.

Instead, he should listen to his opponents praise of his second serve. Many players on tour have mentioned in the press that his second serve is actually tougher to return than his first. The big kick he gets with it would be a perfect set-up for a volley and give him a chance to get closer to the net .

But that is just my opinion.
