Doubles players need frames that are good at the net, and good at returning over serving. A good net partner will dominate even if your serve is not great. Singles players can use any set up that compliments their game, such as round pallets, western grips, 16 x 19 patterns, or a doubles all court set up, while the doubles guys who go to net, usually prefer an 18 x20, for control over spin, and touch over spin, and sharper edged pallets over the rounder ones. Imo a net game requires a higher tens. over a looser one, a softer string for better volley touch.
