Yep! She emailed me and said she was going to use it. So I got up at 6am. Pretty cool.

Question about Auto vs. Manual Shutter
Hi John,
I am interested in purchasing a camera for a significant amount of video analysis, and I read your article here http://www.tennisplayer.net/members/...yer_part2.html.
I have also read the following thread in the forum
http://www.tennisplayer.net/bulletin...17758#post1775
It appears that the newer Casio cameras like the Casio EXILIM EX-ZR100, and its successor, the Casio EXILIM EX-ZR200, do not allow manual shutter control while in video mode. They go up to 1/4000th of a second in automatic mode, but I am not sure how that is triggered. On some of the golf forums they are complaining about getting blurring of the club head using these cameras.
I have found some camcorders that do 60p and have a manual shutter control up to 1/10000th of a second.
In your opinion would 60p with a high speed manual shutter produce better results than 120 or 240fps with an automatic shutter?
Thanks,
Blake

Great question! 6 of one... but really you need both!
I would strive to find one of those older Casios on ebay or whatever... Nikon had a similar auto camera that we found worthless in auto mode...
We paid above retail for our second discontinued Casio, and gladly given what else is out there right now--but one thing I know, it will change...

Help - QuickTime not playing High Speed videos after upgrade to OS Lion
Does anyone else have this problem? After upgrading to Lion (OS X 10.7.4), none of the High Speed videos load and run. The newest High Def videos work as well as the basic Stroke Archive videos, just not any of the HS videos. All of my software is up to date on my MacBook Pro. (BTW, the next Mac OS version, "Mountain Lion" is to be released in July so hopefully no problems will happen then - testing should be done asap with all new releases so users can have a heads up on improvements/issues)
As a side - do we need to buy "QuickTime Pro" to have better results/capabilities on this site? Moving the scroll point on the scroll bar to manually go thru the stroke at the speed you want is not the best interface - is the Pro version better at this? Any other suggestions/thoughts?

what is the time between the ready position and the contact
Hi,
what is time between the ready position and the contact?
See the related post from TW below
Thank you

OK I spoke with Andy Fitzell and he asked me to post to say that the video of Roger that he and Vic filmed at IW does not show racket acceleration continuing into the follow through.
One thing to remember is that he is shooting at 30 frames per second with cameras a significant distance from the players. This is different than the rigorous academic work of someone like Brian Gordon or Bruce Elliot who are filming at 240 frames a second or more.
Nonetheless his conclusion is that just prior to impact the racket is traveling at 68mph.
One tenth of a second later it is at 52mph and at this point the arm and racket are coming across the body.
One tenth of a second after that, with the racket wrapping back over the shoulder it is traveling at 22mph.

The time spent in the boot shape loop

I was hoping to get the time spent on the "boot shape" loop in
My original question was about time between the start of the boot and the contact
PS I do NOT fps so the counter at the video is useless
Thank youLast edited by julian1; 08-01-2012, 08:56 AM.
