  • Getting Hawk-Eye Stats and graphics.

Any idea where and how to get access to extensive Hawk-Eye stats and their graphical presentation?

I see them providing much more detailed, interesting analysis for TV since they were bought, but only sporadically.

Tennis.TV (re your email) had a few, select stats for live matches when I checked it out (admittedly that was quite a while ago, so it may have changed), and not for the majors, or tournaments blocked in the U.S..

I'm looking for things such as the "service toss beehive" ( a great graphic!), the average speed, height of groundstrokes segregated by type, strike points.

Thanks in advance for any input. / jim

So thanks to all of you--past, present, and future. Tennisplayer was, is, and will continue to be the best source for amazing information about how to play the game we love. I believe that is true and here's hoping at least most of you continue to agree.
Congratulations, thanks for the great content, and keep up the good work!

          • Basic drive

            Hi john,

I am a new member and it's the first post.

For the basic drive, is that we should lift and push from shoulder until reaching the universal extension or push and lift then rotate the arm 90 degree?

            • Thaiteppy,

Wecome to the site and it's a good question. Lift, push, and rotate, but how much in what order?

If you are aiming for that model finish point the push and lift take care of themselves and the rotation is the variable. A flatter forehand hit with a conservative grip will have less. A more extreme grip will naturally have more.

And then it can all be varied to almost infinite degrees. Check out this article on hand and arm rotation and see if that makes it clear.

              • Drills

John, I've followed you and your site(s) for years and really like your approach to the game. Question: How about adding a section for "practice drills"? I think it would be very helpful to most and an interesting section on a monthly basis.

                • nokomis/papa,

Yes it is a great idea and one that I have thought I would have implemented by now!

Don't know why I haven't really other than I keep finding other fascinating things to publish. Sooner or later it has to happen.

And thanks for the good words!

OK, I'll be looking for it "sometime" in the future. Keep up the great work.

                    • What I am really excited about is the new articles series we are going to do with Brian Gordon and Rick Macci on what Brian's 3D analysis reveals about the strokes and how to hit/teach them. And another new series on oncourt physical training from Mark Kovacs...

I am extremely excited about these 3D analysis articles as well. Any idea in regards to when we might be seeing these? End of the year maybe?

Quick question, why does the name Mark Kovacs sound very familiar? Has he worked with a top player before or is it somewhere else that I've heard it? They'll be really interesting as well.

Keep up the good work John. Loving every minute of the site.

Try google when you want to know about someone ok? He's a physical trainer who works for USTA.

                          The articles are starting soon.

                            John

Ever thought of doing merchandise? Tennisplayer.net T-shirts and Caps? It's a great way to fly the flag. I get seen by lots of players and coaches in my neck of the woods. People might be curious and say what's this Tennisplayer.net all about?...and of course I would tell them.

Just wondered if you've ever given it any thought?
