Did anyone catch the comments they were making about Cilic's forehand during his QF match against Murray?
I think it was BG who said that Cilic had a "hitch" in his forehand.
I was just wondering what you guys thought about that. I don't really see it as a hitch...it seems like he just creates a great deal of racquet head lag in his forward swing. A hitch would be a more accurate description if there was a disruption in the speed of his arm or hand through the motion, but I don't see one. I think it might just look like a hitch because of how the racquet head lags and then catches up at the last second.
As a side note, I really like his service motion. Sometimes I actually flinch when I'm watching him serve because it seems like he might fall over backwards with such a dramatic back arch. I just like how his motion allows for a natural kick action. In fact, I'm surprised that his first serve percentage was relatively low for the whole tournament, but I think he really goes for the corners and the lines on his first serve so maybe that's why.
There is a court-level rear view of his kicker here in the stroke archive that really helped me develop my own kick serve. It's probably my favorite kick serve clip.
