Drugs can never be seen as good thing, but surely these type of drugs can only damage performance, not enhance it. If anything, coming thru such an ordeal is testament to just how good he was.

I agree. I don't understand all the hullabaloo about how this is damaging to tennis. The only person damaged by this is Agassi, as far as I can see, and I commend him for coming out of it as he did. -
On the same note, cocaine couldn't help you either but got Hingis banned for it. I don't think they should be testing for non performance enhancing drugs.Comment

I agree. But they need a good dressing down for being such poor role models. Being a world-class player comes with responsibilities.Comment

Debatable point re: athletes being role models.
As Charles Barkley said, or words to this effect, "Your parents are your role models...Just 'cause I can dunk a basketball, doesn't mean I should raise your kids."

I say he gets a pass. He's trying to tell people that you can make mistakes and get back off the mat. He went through that big fall in 97 and still came back and won 4 or 5 more majors. Its an inspiring story.Comment

Ditto. If you read the book it is truly a beautiful, heart wrenching, inspirational tale. It'll also make you laugh outloud. The inside stories are priceless. The book itself is nothing like the negative media hype. I say it's a must read.Comment

Yeah, I think he gets a pass also. Little disappointing and I can't help but think, didn't anyone notice? But enough is enough, the guy has provided the sport and society with a great deal of positive experiences/outlooks. Sometime we tend to get mired down in the negative aspects of these issues and forget the courage it took to come forward and lay it all out.Comment
