Scalability by Emilio Sanches Vicario

For the past few years I've scaled the court down, even for my more advanced students, so they get comfortable finishing the point off at the net. Their service line becomes their baseline. I move them around (deep, neutral, side to side, ect...) until I feed them a short ball at which time they hit an approach shot, come to the net and hit 2 volleys (at least 2 volleys so that they are always ready for the next shot). The transition is shorter, the volleys easier (closer to the net) and the students become more comfortable finishing the point at the net. The student gradually moves back to 3/4 and the process starts again and so on.Last edited by tommyt; 10-13-2009, 11:55 AM.
