Grips and the bent / straight arm

    John,
is there any correlation between the straight arm stroke and the degree of the Western grip? i.e. even Agassi is a lot less severe in his grip than Nadal.

Doesn't seem that way. Philippoussis had an eastern to very mild semi western and he was straight arm. Federer the same. Paradorn S., straight arm, moderate grip. On the basis of that you'd say the opposite, but then look at Verdasco and Nadal. The one thing it does seem associated with is more extreme torso rotation regardless of grip.

        Verdasco

John where is Verdasco's forehand grip in your opinion?

I took a brief look through the arm action segments and I was kind of surprised that he is not nearly as far underneath as I thought. Like a
4 /3 1/2 or a 4/4 at most. Look thru more clips yourself and see what you think.
