  • Buenos Aires, Delray Beach, Marseille, ATP 250's

    In Buenos Aires, Zverev is the number 1 seed, and the oddmakers favorite to win the tournament at an implied probability of winning at 34%. The number 2 favorite is my pick to win the tournament, Fonseca, who is not sneaking up on anyone with an implied probability of winning the tournament at about 24%. Rune is number 2 seed, Musetti is number 3 seed. Francisco Cerundolo is also in the draw.

    Don't count out Diego Schwartzman - this is his last tournament before retiring. He had a big win against 6'7 Nicolas Jarry in the last round. Diego is 5'7!

      Joao Fonseca twice rallied from down two match points to beat local Mariano Navone 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 in Buenos Aires and reaches his first semifinal.
      The youngest ever to make this event's semi.

        Fonseca into his first ATP final. I'm guessing vis Cerdunolo.

        Now, that's two BIG forehands.

          If Fonseca wins this afternoon's final over Cerundolo, he'll be 10th on this list per the ATP.
          (But look at that run by Medvedev The Other. I'd forgotten this.}

            Fonseca did it.

            "

            The 18-year-old Brazilian produced a dazzling performance to defeat fifth seed Francisco Cerundolo 6-4, 7-6(1), becoming the youngest South American to win a title in the ATP Tour era (since 1990). Competing in his first tour-level final, Fonseca twice unsuccessfully served for the match but regrouped in style to sink a fourth Argentine of the week amid a raucous atmosphere in the capital.

              Boris Becker and Chris Evert note the (since 1990) cutoff left them out!

              Wiki Remembers: "He was the youngest ever male Grand Slam singles champion at 17 years, 227 days (a record later broken by Michael Chang in 1989, who won the French Open when he was 17 years, 110 days).

              And Chris, who was born Dec 12, 1954"
              "In 1973, Evert was the runner-up at the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships. A year later she won both those events during her then-record 55-consecutive-match winning streak, which included eight other tournament wins. She ended the year with a 100–7 match record, winning 16 tournaments including two Grand Slams, having been a finalist in her first Australian Open, and having for a fourth straight year reached the semifinals at the US Open. She was chosen as the year-end number one by the leading tennis experts and authorities of the day – except Bud Collins"
