Yes...Heppy Thanksgiving! Indeed! Funny thing...I haven't seen a turkey dinner in twenty years. The traditional meal for a strictly traditional American holiday. Everybody takes a weedend out of the busy life. The daily struggle to proclaim thanks. It's a great idea. One should try this every day. If you have the muscle. It's tough these days for lots of people. Even white people. They are struggling just as much as the rest. The time and distance creates an irony in my mind. I wrestle with the idea. I know how America loves the Thanksgiving holiday. Here in Sweden I turned on the television as I was preparing for bed. It was the DETROIT LIONS! Can you believe it? I hardly could. The nostalgia. The traditional Detroit Lions football game on Thanksgiving. How I remember this so clearly. So many years of this ancient tradition. Except this year the Lions are 11-1 now after defeating the Chicago Bears. The Lions versus the Bears. To me that spells Dick Butkus versus Alex Karras. Lem Barney. Gale Sayers. Walter Payton. Barry Sanders. Geez...all of the rest. Twenty years and no turkey! No football! Somehow life goes on. Only in America. God Bless America! God bless the President...and the President Elect!
