  • Transition from Amateur to Professional Model

A U.S. issue may not be especially relevant to this forum, but the amateur genie has been let out of the U.S.bottle, never to be put back in. Recent U.S. court cases have escalated the NIL( Name, Image, Likeness) wars for collegiate sports, a pipeline for U.S. pro tennis. NIL may result in an athletic/employee model. Thirty six states have legalized NIL funding for high schools. NIL think tanks project that this new professional model will greatly affect collegiate MINOR sport programs..Tennis programs will likely be cut or reduced to a newly created tier system( resulting in lower funding and reduced traveling). Any thoughts on how this may affect U.S. pro tennis? Are there lessons for the U.S. to learn from Europe as it transitions from an amateur to a professional model for youth and collegiate sports?
