Well that was quite the spectacle. We got to see the some of the best traits of both of them. The Nadal never quit fight for every point no matter what, and Novak's uncanny ability to finish matches, no matter what.

Novak gets the job done. By far the better player for most of the match. He'll be glad to get that one behind, though.

Rafa coming back from 2 sets down showed impressive resolve. But I doubt he's healthy yet; seemed more than lack of match play, perhaps?

Djoko had 12 BP opportunities only two sets, and won 20 more total points. Largely one-way traffic until come back.

Doubles comes alive at the Olympics. If ATP/WTA tennis could only capture whatever it is that makes doubles special once every 4 years, it would be great.

The 20-point tiebreaker won by Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz 16-14 over Milos Raonic and Felix Auger Aliassame is, I believe, the longest REGULAR tiebreaker in Olympic tennis history.

I think truth be told what gives this match such panache is the singles chops of these 4 players. But no doubt doubles is a great watch.

It could have been embarrassing for Rafa had Novak not had that 3-game wobble. It's amazing how Novak collected himself to seal up the last two games from 4-4. How many times has he done that in his career? Rafa was well below his best. He really should have quit last year. It's a shame when a great athlete, be it a tennis player, boxer, runner, soccer player, goes on too long.

Musetti just took out Fritz in 2 closely contested sets, consolidating the pain he dished out at Wimbledon. Musetti has such an easy on the eye game, an updated Gasquet, all the shots, with a much better forehand. He kind of has a Gasquet/Stan backhand with a next gen forehand, and his serve is very good for a guy 6 feet tall or so.

FAA just took out Med in 2 sets. Huge win for FAA, who was 0-7 vs Med going in.

                            Was Musetti blocking returns again?
How deep was he returning from?

i thought Fritz might be better prepared thus time.
