OK, now Jannik is just showing off. Yet another tuck-and-roll winner
Hmmmm, forum is balky, let's try this again short clip on X

Here's Sinner's from yesterday in case you missed it:

Tuck and roll pass by new Numero Uno. I did this on our hard courts and nobody applauded? <g> Jannik Sinner Dive of the Year | Insane Point (Halle 2024) 50 seconds YT. The best part, for me, is how Sinner reacts. He went the wrong way, then slipped, then got up and dove on the grass while not only making a great get, but hitting a passing shot. Sinner then gets up and is literally doubled over in laughter. He can't get over how ridiculous it was to flop all over and still win the point. That's one of the great things about this guy, he doesn't take himself too seriously. And he has fun playing.

Sinner wins 1st set in tiebreakers, 9-7, vs Hurkacz. Absolutely nothing between them. They certainly look like the Wimbledon favorites.

Good call since Alcaraz lost his title defense in Queens and Djokovic's health is in question. So much for my bet on Drapper

That's Sinner's first title on grass as well as his first title after being named world number uno. Neither player was broken but Hubi won more 8 more points on first serve, and Sinner won 8 more points behind his second.

Great volleying by both players and Sinner is supremely confident on taking anything out of the air. If you want a reason to like the young Italian beyond his shot making, he's just a pleasant, easy-going guy. Witness this where a fan interrupts his serve on a crucial point with a sneeze. Some other players we won't name (cough, Kyrgios, Djoko) might have a tantrum. Sinner beams a great smile then hits an ace. No biggie.

Highlights:Jannik Sinner vs Hubert Hurkacz For The Title, YT 6:35 min
For what it's worth, Hubi gets the consolation prize for the best shot of the day, a backfire pass.

The event was a showdown for three of the highest rated servers in tennis. The top-ranked Hubert Hurkacz got his first win against three losses over the man who barely trails him by 3.4 points out of 299.2, Alexander Zverev, 76(2) 6-4 in the Halle semifinal. Then Hurkacz fell to Sinner 7-6(8), 7-6(2) in a final with no breaks of serve. {Number three Eubanks lost to Nakashima in Stuttgart).
